Alain Gautré was first a student, then a teacher at the Jacques Lecoq School. He is also an actor, theatre director, and co-founder with Pierre Pradinas of the Chapeau Rouge company, for whom he has written several plays. He is a clown and a puppeteer. His writing grows directly out of his relationship to the stage. He is very involved in his clown work, which he his constantly perfecting. He leads workshops for professional clowns, and directs clown shows such as Les Nouveaux Nez. He also writes for film and television.
