Francis Joffo was born in Paris in 1937.
He is a playwright, actor and director. He entered the école de la rue Blanche, run by Jean Meyer, in 1955.
He participated in all of Jean Le Poulain's theatrical adventures, including putting together over forty productions and a number of festivals. He directed Le Poulain in L'Avare, Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, Volpone, Le Juif de Malte and Le Marchand de Venise. He has also staged all of Robert Lamoureux's play for more than twenty years, including La Soupière, Le Charlatan, Adélaïde 90, La Taupe, L'Amour foot and Si je peux me permettre.
He co-wrote sketches with Catherine Anglade for the programme Sérieux s'abstenir on TF1 for ten years. He wrote over fifty sketches for Henri Salvador during the same period.
His plays Quelle famille (1989), Coups de foudre (1992), Vacances de rêve (1994), and Face à face (1998) have been performed hundreds of times in Paris and on tour throughout France. They have also been staged in Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Canada, Brazil, Rumania, Spain and Italy.
He staged Laurence Jyl’s La Clef ( in Actes du Théâtre under the title Des hommes à la clef), on tour in 2009.
He has also written Tant qu’il y aura des femmes (2009) and Les Battantes (2010) (producers wanted).
