William Pellier, taking everything as material for his work, has written–sparingly–since 1976: scientific treaties, theoretical fiction and theatrical language.
Suspicious and short-tempered by nature, he lives alone, surrounded by numerous dogs. He is as Michel Cornavin described him in L’Observatoire romand: “someone on the fringe, in other words an exceptional character who reflects back a distorted image of reality.”
He has received a number of grants and prizes in France and abroad. Le Tireur occidental is his first published play (éd. Espaces 34). Readings have been held of Variétés parlées (Comédie de Valence, 2000; CDN Orléans, 2001), and La Vie de marchandise (Journées d’auteurs de Lyon, 1996; CDN Saint-Étienne, 2001; Théâtre de la Tête noire, Saran, 2003).
Grammaire des mammifères (“Beaumarchais” grant and Ministère de la Culture production grant) is to be published in 2005 (éd. Espaces 34) and staged by Jean-Marc Bourg. |
