Arno Bertina was born in 1975 and is the author of three novels that form a triptych: Le Dehors and Appoggio (Actes Sud, 2001 and 2003), and Anima motrix (Verticales, 2006).
He has also written the following narratives: La Déconfite gigantale du sérieux (Lignes, 2004) under the pseudonym Pietro di Vaglio; J’ai appris à ne pas rire du démon (Naïve, 2006); and Ma solitude s’appelle Brando (Verticales, 2008).
While in residence at the Villa Médicis (Rome), he wrote Anastylose (Fage, 2006) with B. Gallet, Y. De Roeck and L. Michaux, retracing the story of the Ara Pacis. As a member of the collective Inculte, he has contributed to the volumes Une année en France (Gallimard, 2007) and Devenirs du roman (Naïve, 2007). In 2009 two other collaboraive books were published: La Borne SOS 77 with photographer L. Michaux (Le bec en l’air) and Enorme (Thierry-Magnier) with the Tendance Floue collective.
France Culture has commissioned radio plays and adaptations (Sous le volcan by Malcolm Lowry and La Conscience de Zeno by Italo Svevo). Within that framework he has worked several times with actress Agnès Sourdillon, for whom he wrote La Relève des dieux par les pitres (Festival d’Avignon, 2010).
