| | Bertrand Leclair, born in Lille in December 1961, is a novelist, essayist and playwright. He was also a longtime literary critic for media such as La Quinzaine littéraire, Les Inrockuptibles and Le Nouvel Economiste.
A dozen of his novels have been published, including Théorie de la déroute (Verticales, 2001), L’Invraisemblable histoire de Georges Pessant (Flammarion, 2010) and Petit Eloge de la paternité (Folio, 2010).
Héritages, his stage play mixing French and sign language, opened at the IVT (Paris) in January 2011, directed by Emmanuelle Laborit, and since then has been on tour.
He has also written twenty radio plays, including Les Derniers Jours de Paul Gauguin (France Culture, 2003) and L’Assassin à la Simca 1000 (France Culture, published in issue n° 2 of the review France Culture Papiers).
He was awarded the Cioran Essay Grant in 2009 and the SACD New Radio Talent Prize the previous year.
