Actes du Théâtre n° 64 April 2013

David Paquet was born in Quebec in 1978. He graduated from the playwriting programme at Canada’s National Theatre School. His first play, Porc-épic, was published by Dramaturges Editeurs and performed between 2007 and 2011in Montreal, Germany, Mexico, Austria, Belgium, London and Paris, the latter in a series of readings at the Comédie Française.
His second text, 2h14, a play for teenagers, won the Upcoming Writers for Young Audience prize in 2008. It was staged at the Maison-Théâtre in 2009 and directed by Claude Poissant, and was made into a radio play on the German station SR2 Kulturradio in June 2011. He was awarded a prestigious Canadian Governor General’s Award and the Michel Tremblay prize in 2010 and his early works have been translated into several languages. As well as writing works for the theatre, he has also tried his hand at slam, fairytales, poetry, prose and spoken word.
