Geneviève Billette was born in Quebec in 1971. She studied French at the University of Montreal and playwriting at the Canadian National Theatre School. Since then she has devoted herself to writing, translating and teaching. She has benefited from various residencies (Limoges, Mexico City, Antwerp, New York) and won the Governor General’s Award for Literature, the Prix Paul Gilson for French-language radio and the Prix Gratien-Gélinas for Le Pays des genoux in 2004 and 2005. Several of her plays have been performed in Switzerland, Canada, France and Mexico. Most of them have also been translated and published by Léméac. She won the Prix Annick Lansman in 2010 for her play Les ours dorment enfin, which was published by Lansman.
