Ismaël Saïdi is a playwright, director and actor.
Born in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode (Belgium) in 1976 into a Moroccan family, Ismaël Saidi grew up in Schaerbeek. After graduating with degrees in public relations and social science, Ismaël Saidi wrote several short films, then directed Les uns contre les autres, Marie-Madelaine, Beaucoup de bruit, Absurde and Loin des yeux. Rhimou, his film for television, broke all previous audience records in Morocco.
In 2010, he wrote and directed Ahmed Gassiaux, his first feature-length film.
His feature-length film Morrocan Gigolo’s, a comedy about multiculturalism, was released in October 2013. It was a box-office hit in French-speaking Belgium and was selected for the 5th Magritte awards.
Djihad is his third stage play, following the Avignon hit Ceci n’est plus un couple.
